Martina Background

From Arsmagica

Conceived during the Gathering of Twelve Years, Martina was born in the summer of 1204. Her father is Magus Imanitos of Jerbiton (though the magus may not be aware that any children resulted from his tryst with Leona). Despite that her mother is inoffensive to animals and her father has a gentle gift, it became very apparent at a very young age that Martina has an offensive effect upon animals. Because of the disturbances this effect caused within and around Leona's sanctum, Martina was sent to a Bonisagus school at Durenmar.

Physically, the girl takes after her father more than her mother, and such a resemblance would be easily apparent to anyone at Oculis Serpentrionalis. However, Martina's personality is radically different from either parent, having been shaped primarily by her teachers at Durenmar. She is friendly and outspoken, eager to please, and as she begins budding into womanhood, becomes a bit of a flirt. Martina applied for an apprenticeship as a Redcap, but was ultimately rejected due to her frail health. As such, she returned to Crintera at age 8 and had been apprenticed to the covenant scribe (the best place for her to remain isolated from the covenant's wildlife) prior to moving north with Leona. She is constantly harassed by her younger brother, but the two of them share a close bond often obscured by their constant bickering.
