As a child, Bran's parents entrusted him to the church, to pursue a future in the clergy. He was largely uninterested in theology and was a disappointing acolyte in that respect. The only time he seemed to show any interest in the church's functions was in getting underfoot the craftsmen who were constructing an addition to the cathedral. As his aptitude for working with wood and stone became apparent, they quickly shifted the focus of his education to geometry and architecture. He has since become a highly skilled mason, however, rumours of agnosticism leave him hard-pressed to find employment from Holy Mother Church.
