You nestle your body firmly against Kerri. She wraps her arms around you and softly nuzzles your neck. "Mmmmmmmm," you murmur sleepily.
"Thanks, Ashley," Kerri whispers. "You're awesome." Her body relaxes as she fades out. Your own eyes close and you drift into dreamland...
"Rise and shine, sweetie," Kerri giggles. She kisses your cheek. "Time to face the day."
When you arrive at school, the students are abuzz at the sudden and unexpected romance. Girls you used to ignore are smiling at you. "We commoners aren't so bad, are we?" Kerri's friend Angela giggles.
"Kerri is amazingly awesome," you respond. "I'm sure some of you are jerks too, but that's true for all of us, rich or poor."
Kerri blushes. "I can't believe this, Ashley. It's like you're possessed or something. Your personality has changed overnight."
You laugh inwardly at her use of the word possessed but say out loud, "Being a rich snob isn't as easy as you think. It's nice to be able to be sweet to people. Truthfully, I hated having to be stuck-up, but it seemed to be expected of me because of my dad's wealth."
The day passes smoothly. You and Kerri meet in the library to blow through your homework and studying for the afternoon after classes end, and by 5:00 your evening is free. "Where to, Ashley?" Kerri giggles as she takes your hand. You walk out of the library and pause for a moment to think.
