Serk
From Zok
Serk is the son of Krin Nalgi and Hskthrita, and a friend of Monsos. He is the patron god of rivers and those who travel upon them or dwell within them. He is especially devoted to crocodiles and other large aquatic predators, which are often used to represent him in various ceremonies. Serk is an unpredictable and often hostile deity, but an easily bribed one. A sacrifice or an offering before the start of a river journey can save on a great deal of misfortune, and might even draw enough of Serk's favor for him to bless your tongue to flow as swiftly and about as honestly as the river. Serk is known for his dishonesty, for his habit of hiding sharp rocks beneath seemingly placid waters, and for the manner in which rivers burs into vicious rapids at precisely the wrong moment. He's also responsible for floods, which Uraine usually forces him to keep somewhat regular based on her seasons, and farmers who rely on yearly flooding are among his strongest supporters. Serk is somewhat famous for demanding that those he is displeased with sacrifice one of their own to earn back his favor. Roughly three quarters of these sacrifices die, but those few who are willing to give their lives to earn Serk's favor are usually spared by divine intervention and made into priests of the False Tear.
