Novtober was first invented in 1963 by Cheesemaster. It was originally to be called Octember, (October+November), but people got confused and thought it was October+September. Also, manyu thought November to be superior to October, and that it should naturally be first. Novtober (November+October) was originally intended to be a short 8 day month inbetween the months October and November.

Back then, the year only had 7 months- January, February, April, July, September, October, and November. They were each 28, 26, 30, 31,30, 31, and 28 days long, respectively. This totalled up to the year having 204 days. By adding this extra 8 day month, there would be a total of 8 months, picked because it is an even number and is divisible by 2 and 4, unlike 7 which is an odd number, and is only divisible by 1 and itself. Also, a total of 212 days is an important number, because it is also an even number, is divisible by 106, 53 (1 more than the number of weeks in a year today), 4, and 2. Also, if you subtract 170 (which can be gotten by multiplying the number of months, 8, by the average number of days per month, 26.5, and then subtracting 42), from the total number of days, you get 42, which makes it that much cooler.

It was also later found, in 1986, that if you take the number of months, multiply it by the number of months times 2.5, and then adding the number of months, and then adding the number of months divided by 4, you would also get 170, which could then be subtracted from 212 to get 42. Also, from 42, you could subtract 11, 12, 14, 16, or 34, and you would get the number of days in a particular month. In late 1968, however, three more months were added, June, August, and December.

This created many problems, as the total amount of months now equalled 11. Also, with June and August having 28 days, December having 31, and January and February finding 2 more days each, the year now had a total of 303 days. This created problems, as 303 is only divisible by 101, 3, 1, and itself, none of those numbers being of any siginificance. Novtober, being the shortest, and thought to be the most insignificant, was removed, putting the year at 295 days and 10 months (Note that 10 × 29.5 = 295).

When all hope seemed to be lost, in 1982, Novtober was re-added, when it was found out that the fate of the world depended on it. However, with Novtember the way it is, the world would be stuck with 306 days (January had gained a day and August had gained 2), so it was modified to be only 2 days long, putting the year at an even 300 days. However, since the shortest a month could be legally is 5 days, October and november were merged into one, and had the 2 days added (giving it a total of 61 days, the same as today). Since then, the rest of the year has changed, but Novtober has stayed the same.
