Races
Below is a list of the known races in the Realm of Zarathustra.
Humans
Humans, though not unheard of, are extremely rare finds in Zarathustra. The humans, unlike Zarathustrans, are all organic matter. A Human can adopt the Burst Powers from a Zarathustran through means of bestowal or other, currently unheard of means. Humans can only enter the realm of Zarathustra with the aid of an astral projection of another Zarathustran. Humans naturally have more spread out powers and abilities, as opposed to Zarathustrans, which have centered points that raise higher than others.
Zarathustrans
Zarathustrans are blessed beings who live on the aptly named Zarathustra. Zarathustrans are actually Amorphous Solids with Human-like skin layers covering them. This was first discovered around 120 Z.U.(Zarathustran Uprising), when autopsies becamse a valuable tool in increasing the power of the Zarathustrans.
Zarathustrans have the ability to transform based on a release of power. This is only available to certain Zarathustrans, roughly 1 out of 20 Zarathustrans possess this ability. This was a large factor in the outcome of the Uprising, as it was the ladder of hierarchy by which the armies of Zarathustrans ranked themselves.
Zarathustrans cannot manifest themselves in the Human realm, though they can appear to people who can spiritually connect with Zarathustra. Though all Humans can actually do it, all but a select few actually know about it. These people can see them, feel them, hear them, and see anything they do that would normally impact the Human World, but none of it actually affects the regular realm.
Spirits
Spirits were originally aborigines to the realm of Zarathustra. They were able to exist by inhabiting natural things, such as rocks and stars, thusly making Earth and Fire the first two spirit types. The Spirits say that something impure came into the universe and created Zarathustra, and it was their immediate goal to destroy it. As they landed on the surface, they began to take on newer forms, and the world began growing and terraforming in various ways that would allow for new elements, and thusly, new Spirits. When the first Human ever entered Zarathustra, his steps along the soil and mere inhabitence there bread way to a new being; The Zarathustran.
It was made in it's imprint, and it counteracted with the spirits. It attempted to destroy the Spirits one by one, and began reproducing and creating more of it as time went on, to the point in which the Spirits gathered and used their Divine Powers to create a Realm, a world that would be near and be able to watch Zarathustra; The Spirit Realm. The Spirits then began using their magic and Zarathustran corpse flesh to construct bodies, which, prolonged usage of, could cause it to melt into the skin. Though they then were able to inhabit the Burst Modes of various remains and create a new wave to fight back against the Zarathustrans by taking them down from the inside.
This starts the Uprising, in which the Spirits destroy Zarathustran souls to the degree where there mus be a new voice, the voice of reason. The spirit of Death was created and began destroying both races and harvesting their souls to bring them to the new realm: Ghell, later nicknamed "Hell" due to the Earthen slang and similarities in the names.
The Spirits and Zarathustrans learned from that experience that they cannot fight forever, and thusly returned to peace. The Demons, however, were then granted the ability to escape, and being corrupted, they sought out both realms to take anything they pleased.
Demons
Demons are the amalgamation of Spirits and Zarathustrans sent to Ghell and corrupted. Back then They simply got more violent and erradic, but the powers of Hell have become so great that they had, over time, began to make them into their own shape, and gave them their own growth patterns. Nowadays, only Demons can make other demons, and any Zarathustrans that die nowadays remain in their form and either stay there or go to the Spirit Realm, depending on their fates.
Demons are naturally the most powerful of all the races, but have deep amounts of physical and mental problems. Some are depressed, to going so far as to having to be locked in the lowest levels of Hell and safekept for years.
Important People
Universitas
Universitas is an ungodly being that was created long before Zarathustra came to exist. He dwelled in the farthest corners of space, and eventually got into the Zarathustran realm. He was rumored to have created Zarathustra itself, and influenced many events on it. His essence is no longer found, but to ensure safety, he created two fail safes:Universitas Id and Universitas Gedaz. The being of himself is stored within both of these items, saying that one day he will return to claim them.
Death
Death is the first Spirit-turned Demon, made to watch over Hell, The Spirit Realm, and Zarathustra for all eternity. His wife, Julienna Malifact, bore him 3 children: Abraxas, Miyou, and Takai. Abraxas, or Chaos as he likes to go by, is the right hand man an apprentice to Death, as well as the eldest son.
Chaos
Abraxas Chaosus Malifact is the firstborn son of Death, and his right-hand man. Chaos is less of an evil cynic than his father and most demons, though he is still the same in many aspects. He is kinder than most Demons, but only because he shares Zarathustran Blood.
First Lord of Fire, Genacius no Okami
Genacius is the first spirit cultivated, created by inhabiting and absorbing a star. He is incredibly heartless and evil, which makes him very lonely, making him go so far as to have his soldiers bring him scarifices for various needs. His only son, Jonouchi no Okami, has been unheard of.
Important Places
Arche Kloein Falls
These falls are the legendary spot of the final confrontation in the Uprising, between the leader of the spirits and the king of Zarathustrans. The King of Zarathustra was killed by the Spirit of Death and sent to Hell. These rocky bridge wayus have grown old due to age.
Reyo Negamis Temple
The site of the former Shrine in which the Zarathustrans would frequently pray to Universitas. The statue was one day found melted, and all took it as a sign that their god is returning.
Rush City
This old city looks rather advanced for such an old city, but it is completely empty. There is a burial grounds, with the largest headstone reading "Here lies Rowan and Carly Hood. May their love keep them together always."
The Kluuf Temple
This place appears to be the remians an inside community, which operated with a closed economy and did everything indoors, but the interior is so ruined that it is nearly impossible to traverse through.
Important Events
The Anomaly
The Anomaly is a catastrophic event that occurs when one of the Universitas imbued beings is awoken from a long sleep. Depending on which one is awoken after sleeping for so long, their effects differ on what side they're on.
The Uprising
The Zaratustran Uprising, simply referred to as "The Uprising", is a 4 centuries-long war that was fought between both the Zarathustrans and the Spirits. The Spirits had previously harnessed the ability to create powerful synthetic skins and self-imbue Burst Powers into them, something that Zarathustrans deeply craved. The Spirits were unaware that they were after that until the mid point of the war, where they destroyed the texts and attempted to destroy Zarathustra altogether. This was cut short by the creation of the Demon Realm, and the Spirit of Death, which took poor souls from both sides and dragged them to Ghell(later renamed Hell), where they would mutate into the Demon Race of today. Several races of beings were also wiped off of the face of Zarathustra, most of them pointlessly caught in the crossfire of the war.
Important Items
Universitas Id
As Universitas left the realm of Zarathustra for reasons unknown, he left behind two fail safes:Universitas Id and Gedaz. Id is considered to be the corrupt core, as it can normally imbue a typical being with supernatural powers that are godly, enhancing any previous owned powers. However, only one who is destined to save all of Zarathustra can wield it.
Universitas Gedaz
Universitas Gedaz is the definitive power and creator of all things good. Though it may not be as such, for almost 2000 years before the events of the series, the mask is put into the hands of a small boy. This mask was originally thought to be the good one, but it however was deemed a living being moreso a hunk of metal, and deemed not only insane on multiple levels, but a major threat to all life. The person who has it is granted immortality and infinite power at the cost of his sanity and parts of his free will.
Organizations and Syndicates
The Eight Virtuous Chairs
An old sect dating back to before the Uprising, they are specially chosen Zarathustrans with unique powers unlike any others. Their lines ran pure until the 7th Generation of Chairs, which died out 50 years prior to the story. The next generation is started sometime during the story line.
The Viewers
An old team of spirits that was able to watch the events of all the realms from a special area created outside the universe. Only one being remains, who is now referred to as "Exhibit A", most likely named such because he's the last prime example.
The Royal Armada
The Royal Armada is the strongest army in all of Zarathustra. At first it was assumed their leader was kept in high regards, but it was then discovered that the last of The Viewers was actually leading them by using a projection of the old general after killing him and stealing his image.
The Armada was made during The Uprising as a counter to the loss of several races, and to this day, works to ensure no race left on Zarathustra dies out. This includes killing all such threats to society and the way of life.
Important Terms
The Savior
It is foretold by the Spirits in the following prophecy of a great battle.
"The Powers of one imbues into two,
One for heart corrupt, one for heart true.
The original of which is wrongly deemed,
And chaos and death shall be proclaimed.
The truth will set all free,
In the biggest battle that will be."
Implying that the Zarathustrans misjudged the powers of the Great One, and that it will be their downfall until a hero stands up and defeats the corrupt in a true battle that will save the entirety of Zarathustra. The man dubbed to save them is referred to as "The Savior" in most lore and other olden works.
The Destroyer
The Destroyer is the term of the one who is truly corrupt with Universitas' powers, and will destroy the entirety of all the realms unless a savior stands up.
Builders
Builders refer to the beings of the Realms that have the ability to create and destroy solely in their realm, unless additional power is given. The Builder of Hell is supposedly the firstborn of the spirit of Death, the Spirit Builder is the lost son of the Great Fire Lord, and the Builder of Zarathustra is the one deemed a pure hero by the Zarathustrans.
The problem with this is that though the Pure is actually the corrupt, he and the real pure both have the ability to build in Zarathustra.
