Late in the movie, Alma Junior mentions the new baby to Ennis. River is that baby. A girl, born of Alma Sr and her second husband, Monroe. Monroe doted on River, putting River and Junior at odds, though River and Jenny are on good terms.

River is an OC from Brokeback Mountain and is played by Misha.
