About Deadpool

Deadpool (real name Wade Wilson) is a Canadian, ex black-ops mercenary who has been granted most of his powers (namely his healing factor) through the second Weapon X programme. After being ejected from Weapon X, he was sent to the Hospice where he was subject to the sadistic Dr. Killebrew who would torture the patients for his own sick joy. Wilson and the other patients formed a deadpool (a betting pool in which one places bets on when people will die), earning him his namesake. During many of his times under torture and near death (Deadpool has technically died three times now), he formed a semi-romantic relationship with the cosmic-entity that is Death. Thanks to his healing factor he was eventually able to escape, donning the name Deadpool and returning to his calling as a mercenary/assassin.

Characteristics

Deadpool utelises high-tech weaponry and is known for his wisecracks, black comedy, and satirical pop-culture references. He is nicknamed "the merc with a mouth" because of his non-stop inner and outer monologues. The addition of his healing factor to combat his terminal cancer has both physically disfigured and left him mentally unstable.
