These books are available in print only. It is notable that these volumes have become the de-facto standard of citations.
Vinaya Pitakam: One of the Principal Buddhist Holy Scriptures in the Pali Language, Edited by Hermann Oldenberg. 6 volumes including index. London: Pali Text Society. It is usually abbreviated as Vin.
- Volume I: The Mah�vagga. First published 1879, reprinted 1969. The English translation in the PTS edition is Volume IV of The Book of Discipline.
- Volume II: The Cullavagga. First published 1880, reprinted 1995. The English translation in the PTS edition is Volume V of The Book of Discipline.
- Volume III: The Suttavibhanga, First Part.; also includes the historical introduction to Buddhaghosa's Samanta Pasadika. First published in 1881, reprinted 1964. The English translation of The Suttavibhanaga, First Part in the PTS edition is Volume I of The Book of Discipline. Rules covered are as follows
