A predecessor to The Amazing Race, the Marshmallow Hunt was designed for the campers to run off some of their seemingly infinite energy. Counselors hide marshmallows througout the entire campus and the campers have to go find them. There are also colored marshmallows for bonus points. This usually made a sticky mess and there were times when the marshmallows were crawling with insects, and therefore, completely disgusting. Iinitially, the team with simply the most marshmallows won. As the hunt became more elaborate, colored marshmallows were exchanged for clues which would help teams solve the final puzzle.
The marshmallow hunt was eventually replaced by The Amazing Race in part due to the fact that endless hours of hiding by the counselors were undone by the campers in a mere 15 minutes, much like a swarm of locusts; this imbalance of effort is also apparent in the Water Balloon Fight.
