Overcome Stage Fright
From Wikiact
[edit] Intro
Having trouble speaking your lines? Having trouble overcoming the pressure of an important role? You have stage fright. It's okay to be nervous, but it may be getting in the way of your chance to be in the spotlight. Continue reading and you will have a better insight on how to overcome stage fright.
[edit] Steps
- . Avoid direct eye contact with any member of the audience. If you have to look their way, look at the tops of their heads instead of their eyes.
- . Try to start your words off clearly from the get-go. Sometimes all you need is to say the first word.
- . Focus mainly on the script. If you start to tremble, this is a sign you need to 'literally' forget the audience. Just pretend it is like rehersal.
- . Try to speak clearly. Your voice may start shaking if your nervous. If this happens, close your eyes, take a breath, and speak in a confident tone. You'll be amazed on how well that works.
- . If you start to freak out, then imagine that the audience is something else. Pretend they're all farm animals, or drunks, or in their underwear, or not even paying attention to you.
[edit] Tips
- Try doing something to keep your mind off of the performance long enough to think positive thoughts about it.
