History
Shou Ren was raised in a fairly normal family, and from a young age his primary desire was to become a doctor. His family supported this decision and in fact supported him in general (other than his odd choice of hair color). Eventually he got his wish, and joined a medical team. However, his already mildly weak constitution worsened as he unconciously adopted the troubles of his patients - while he had a high success rate, he was constantly passing out or falling ill. Eventually he discovered the cause when his young brother Yu Wen tripped and fell and the scrape appeared on his own knee. While at first he doubted the ability, he soon accepted its presence and learned to control it, and he even taught his brother to control his own powers when they first manifested. However, the hospital still caused accidential flare ups due to sympathy and close personal contact, and eventually it was decided that it would be best for his health to transfer to the less demanding position of file clerk for the hospital. While his family disapproved, they understood the neccessity, and mostly now stay out of his life. The one exception is his brother, whom he visits on a regular basis (often to the younger's dismay.)
Personality
Shou Ren is, above all else, businesslike. He handles his paperwork neatly and efficiently, and treats much of his life in the same fashion. In part because of the past problems with his powers and in part because his job involves confronting death often (albeit in an indirect fashion), he finds it easiest to view death as a statistic or an abstract concept - a mark you put in a box on a form and not much else. He's calm most of the time, if seeming a bit too cold and aloof to some, and not prone to emotional displays. There are only two exceptions to this calm businesslike manner - the first exception is around his brother, whom he treats as a little kid and gives far too much candy to. The second is in his dress and hair, which he keeps as close to pure white as possible because, quite simply, he thinks it looks better. In addition, of late he worries about his younger sister developing a talent that'll ruin her life like his did.
Appearance
Shou Ren is a fairly tall man, standing at around 5'9". His hair is white with hints of blonde where the bleach didn't fully take, cut fairly short with the bangs obscuring one eye almost entirely. His eyes are silver, and he wears rectangular glasses over them. He's fairly pale, although not overly so, which aids his monochromatic appearance. He generally wears a simple white suit or a white jacket trimmed with pale purple, the suit being generally more common. He's rather lanky, and looks like he could probably eat slightly more often. His normal expression is all but unemotional, with perhaps a faint smile.
