Genichirou is a strict Confucianist. The China he envisions is one with a very ordered social hierarchy and where everything has its place and there's a place for everything. He stresses morality and paying proper respect to those in higher positions, but he is not at all haughty about his position. Genichirou believes in hard work as one of the pillars of virtue, thus he respects even the common farmers, making him a very popular leader.
Though he seems mean and harsh at times, Genichirou is no more strict with others than he is with himself.
