Minervan International

From Vaporstory

Minervan International, or "Minervan" for short, is the world's first artificially constructed language. It was made with the intention to unite the nations of Minerva under a single language, and thus bring a greater degree of harmony to the world community.

[edit] History

Minervan International was brought together using different linguistic rules. For example, Senzanyan writers would put an apostraphe above the first and last letter in the word when they wished to express great emotion; this carried into Minervan. The three major languages, Senzanyan, Prathor, and Cyrovian, were all studied and used by the Minervan government to help create this international language that would unoffically unify the countries of Minerva.

Most of the roots used in Minervan were taken from Senzanyan and Prathor, which share a common ancestry. Much of the structural patterns, however, were adapted from Cyrovian.

[edit] Linguistic structure

Minervan uses a relatively simple grammatical structure which follows the subject, verb, object word order and places descriptive words and phrases before their nouns in most cases. Most adverbal phrases and such can be inserted in almost any point in a sentence, as long as the placement is not ambiguous.

[edit] Use in modern Minerva

Because of the language's internationally cooperative origins, Minervan has grown to be a commonly spoken and written language around the world. Although no nation has adopted it as its official language as of yet, an estimated 2 million people speak the language interglobally. It is also the language in which the Minervan International Encyclopedia project is written.
