As a Matoran
Dlakii was originally a Ko-Matoran, and a resident of Destral. He and a large number of other Matoran were enslaved by the Brotherhood of Makuta. Dlakii was forced onto a Matoran strike force, led by Vortex, dedicated to eradicating Rahi threats. Often, Dlakii invented theories as to why the Brotherhood would risk the lives of their best Matoran warriors, most of them involving conspiracies.
Some time after that, Dlakii was transformed into a Toa of Light.
As a Toa
Not much is known about Dlakii's time as a Toa. He was apparantly something of a mercenary, roaming the Northern Continent region with Harkha, Enira, Hev and Duvek, and that his band was constantly hounded by Chya.
It is also known that Dlakii, Harkha and Enira fought the Lord of the Shadow Dragons near the end of Dlakii's time as a Toa. Enira was killed by the Lord. Shortly after that, according to a flashback, it appears that Dlakii killed Chya. It appears that Dlakii disappeared right after this fight, as Enira's tombstone does not mention Dlakii at all.
Some time afterward, Dlakii began teaching at a a dojo operated by iKKF. His speciality was that of attacks involving lightning speed. Coincidentally, his three best students were Lai, Dreiken, and Thekoo. At the end of his term, he created three Toa Stones, two of which were used by Dreiken and Thekoo. The third was given to Lai who, thinking it a rare rock, never used it. At this point, Dlakii became a Turaga.

Weapons
As a Matoran, Dlakii's weapon of choice was a protodermis bow. This bow had no special powers. He also carried the Shield of Kualus, a small roundshield with an imprint of Toa Kualus's mask on it.
As a Toa, Dlakii used a "chainblade", a long chain with a double-ended golden knife attached to one end. This primarily served as a melée weapon, and could be charged with Dlakii's elemental light energy. He wore the Kanohi Avohkii, the Great Mask of Light.
As a Turaga, Dlakii did not own a staff of any description, or at least never used it. Instead, he used a rapier, a small and light sword. In a similar fashion to the "chainblade", Dlakii's rapier could be charged with his elemental light energy. He wore the Kanohi Avohkii, the Noble Mask of Light.
As a Rahaga, Dlakii's rapier was converted into a Blinder Staff. Aside from being a melée weapon, it had the power to emit burning light to blind the target. His Rhotuka spinners were charged with light, capable of neatly burning through anything.
Powers and Traits
Even into his Turaga days, Dlakii was the master of light. He was capable of creating lightning, firing laser blasts, summoning brilliant flares, and moving at the speed of light. Needless to say, he was capable of much more, and was far more powerful as a Toa.
Having originally been a Ko-Matoran, Dlakii still retains resistance to the cold. His talents in archery still remain, which is how even the wildest of attacks (such as the burst of light unleashed on the Lord of the Shadow Dragons) always hit his target.
Interestingly, Dlakii has always had a penchant for fast movement. This is evident early in the first series; most of his fighting at the time involved ultrarapid swordplay, and he is known to have taught such techniques during his tenure at iKKF's academy. However, none of his students (Lai, Thekoo or Dreiken) have ever been shown to have adopted the technique themselves.
Personality
Dlakii demonstrated all the traits of the average Ko-Matoran: quiet, impatient with fools, and razor-witted. Unlike a Ko-Matoran, Dlakii was prone to outbursts of rage that had a tendency to prove fatal to any living being in the area. His personality did not change at all throughout his time as a Toa, and later Turaga; however, the negative aspects were magnified several times while he was a Rahaga.
Trivia
- Originally, Dlakii was shown using a green lightsaber. This has been dropped from continuity, and the lightsaber replaced by a golden rapier.
- In the first three comics in The Unknown Turaga, Dlakii is shown to have owned an Ussal crab. This character was later dropped for several reasons, and will not appear at all in the Chronicle Edition.
- Throughout the original versions of the first series, Dlakii was not referred to as "Dlakii". This name had not been invented yet. Instead, Dlakii was referred to as Turaga of Light or Turaga of Takanuva. This is related to the original BZPower username of the author. It was officially changed in all of his media in June 2006.
- In early promotional material for LIGHT, Dlakii was shown using the Ivaldi, Lai's sword. This is entirely non-canonical.
- Dlakii's appearance has changed dramatically over the years. Originally (in a 2003 avatar) he was portrayed as having tan limbs, a silver Avohkii, and white feet. Later, the feet were changed to silver, the tan to gold, and gold robes were added. Most recently, the robes were changed to silver and his eyes (formerly dark blue) were changed to a lighter shade of blue.
- Dlakii's Matoran form was the subject of a large number of redesigns.
