Senate Biography
A veteran of the international aid group Doctors Without Borders, Madison Ballentine is originally from the Atlanta, Georgia suburb of Marietta. In a town he would later call "soulless", Madison led a relatively normal childhood, excelling in school and eventually winning a scholarship to Vanderbilt University. After graduating, he moved on to medical school at Tufts University and completed his internship with Doctors Without Borders, becoming a practicing doctor and relief worker. As he approached 40, Madison returned to the States and made his home in Portland, Maine, having enjoyed New England much more than the Southeast where he had grown up. Planning to start his own practice, Madison instead ran for Congress to replace a retiring Democrat and managed to win a crowded primary and cruise through the general election. Madison brings to Washington strong views on poverty, the world outside the United States, and healthcare.
