Wes Robert Knightley (Boulder, 12 April 1994) is a lawyer and son of infamous woman's rights activist and legal mind Layna Knightley.

Life

Before Law

Wes was raised by his mother and father in Boulder, Colorado, until their divorce in 1999. Wes and his brother David were placed under their mother's care, and Wes and his father have rarely spoken since.

Wes went on to attend Choate Rosemary Hall from 2008 to 2012. During his time there, he discover his love for constitutional law and became active in the school's Gay-Straight Alliance and Young Democrat Association. Wes's Constitutional Law teacher, Franklin Anderson, is said to be a great influence on Wes's legal thought.

From Choate Rosemary Hall, Wes was accepted in the class of 2016 of Yale. He graduated cum laude and went onto Columbia Law School to earn a Judicial Doctorate in 2018.

Law Career

After Columbia, Wes stayed in New York to live with his boyfriend, Luc Marais, who he married in March of 2018. Wes partnered with a law school roomate, Jon James, to form James & Knightley. From there, Wes has taken on much of his mother's work as she has slowly begun to retire from active lawyering.
