Political Career
After 5 successful years as District Attorney, Comfort decided to run for the Mississippi Valley legislature from his Mississippi district. First facing a conservative Republican, Marcus Jamble, and a moderate Democrat, Harry Deant, he was able to convince the first to drop out and endorse him. In election day, he defeated Deant by a high margin, getting the vote of most Republicans and independents. Comfort served in the Mississippi Valley legislature, sometimes proposing bills that the republicans found too conservative. He was the president of the short-lived Mississippi Valley regional Senate and the only non-republican member from the state of Mississippi.
With much popularity gained, he was elevated to Governor of the Mississippi Valley in 2020, with the resignment of Roberta Christmas. He retired from politics after declining to run for a full term.
