In 1982, David was killed by a gunman while on business in Los Angles leaving a grieving widow and three children on their own. However, Patricia's brother - Charles E Wolff a former Navy Commander and wealthy businessman took the Browns in under his own home.

In 1994, Richard attended the Idaho State University where he gained a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in Politics. It was also here that he meet and fall in love with Laura Claire, a women from Malta studying in the US. The two found love and were married in 1996, the couple would later become the 'darlings' of Browns home town of Twin Falls Idaho.

He also holds the current record of being the youngest so called 'Citizen Legislators' of Idaho and is one of the youngest Congressman ever elected.
