Regardless of his family's financial position, his parents taught Eric the value of hard-work and dedication, and it was through those values that Eric was able to succeed without being handed everything by his parents.

Eric served in the United States Army from 1984 to 1988, and was stationed in Germany towards the end of the Cold War. He is very proud of his time served and would answer the call of duty once more, even at his current age.

In the Senate, Eric is well known for his pragmatic and rational approach to politics. He has a very strong record of supporting the United States Military, pushing for civil rights for all Americans, reforming the healthcare system, and correcting the educational system.

Floridians have been very pleased with Eric as their Senator, especially after his response to the malaria outbreak in Florida in 2008. Working with diligence and speed, Senator Smith was able to provide Florida with the proper Federal help that was necessary.

2012 Democratic Primary

Eric announced his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States in October of 2011, under the calling that America can once again be a nation of moral leadership and high purpose in the world. The Senator is currently polling third nationwide, though he enjoys a great amount of support in South Carolina and is on the up and up in Iowa.

Death

Just days after conceding the 2012 Democratic Primary race to Michael Cahsmir (D-IL), Smith was murdered while walking through his Shadyside, Florida neighborhood. Lee Hammel, who is accused of jogging up behind Smith and shooting Smith three times at point-blank range, was captured by security shortly after the incident.
