Ronald Scott is a New York politician who is currently the Senior Adviser to President Whitney Mason. He was previously Chief of Staff to President Mason before resigning because of health problems and a one term Senator from New York, during which he switched parties from Republican to Democratic.

Early in 2011, Scott announced that he would be leaving the Republican Party to become an Independent and would also be caucusing with the Democrats. This gave control of the Senate to the Democrats, with his defection mirroring that by former Republican Senator Jim Jeffords a decade earlier. He later formally joined the Democratic Party.
