Biography

John Wallace was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on April 15, 1980. The eldest of two sons, John grew up in rural southern Illinois in the town of Newton. His father was a public school music teacher, and his mother gave private music lessons while homeschooling both sons. John's younger brother, Aaron, was born in 1984.

John joined the U.S. Army after graduation from high school, where he served for four years as a sniper in the Special Forces. At the end of his service, Wallace had obtained the rank of first sergeant. He had seen action worldwide, including some of the first engagements in Afghanistan following 9/11

Upon returning to civilian life, John attended college at the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana, and after six years graduated with a graduate degree in political science.

After graduation, John married and began working with the Illinois Family Institute.

At the end of 10+ years of non-profit work, John felt that he should run for the Representative seat of his home 19th District in the 2020 election, and was successful in winning the election over the Democratic candidate.
