Henry Woodhouse is one of the three Vice Presidents of the American Civil Liberties Union. He is the first openly gay man to hold such a position.

Before Career

Henry was born to Edward and Helen Woodhouse in June of 1979 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was the third youngest of four, born only two minutes after his twin brother, Colton. His eldest sibling is his only sister, Paloma, and the youngest was another brother, Peter.

Henry graduated from Choate Rosemary Hall before attending Sarah Lawrence College in New York. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence, he went onto earn his law degree from Harvard Law School in 2004.

Role with ACLU

Counsel

After graduating law school, Henry went on to become a fast-rising attorney within the ACLU. In his five years, he argued fourteen different cases in front of the Supreme Court.

Vice President

In November 2009, Henry was tapped by the new President, Jack Herman, to serve as the Democratic Vice President of the organisation.

Family Life

Henry is married to David Caranobe and resides in Greenwich, Connecticut. They have one adoptive daughter, Reagan Woodhouse, born in 2008. His interests include cycling, the opera, and spending time with his family.
