The Gulf Coast is one of eight super-regions of the United States after regionalization. The legislature is unicameral and sits at Birmingham, Alabama, in the Deep South. It is composed of one hundred one representatives; forty-seven Democrats and fifty-four Republicans. The current Lieutenant Governor, appointed by Governor Mabe in 2016, is Charlie Beck, R-FL. The current minority leader is Chelsea McCree, D-FL.
