George Jameson is a member of the United States Senate, representing the Wabash Valley as James Kennedy's junior partner. He's also the Senate Majority Whip. Before being elected to Senate, he served as Congressman and Mayor of Chicago.
Early Life
George Jameson was born in 1952 to two very strict Methodist parents. His father was a methodist pastor, and his mother was secretary at the Methodist private school. George however grew up in the district 2 public school of Chicago doing very well in subjects like English and Government. In fact, he led his class in both subjects and graduated as valedvictorian.
After high school he attended the University of Chicago-Illinois, majoring in pre law and political science. Upon exiting undergraduate school he felt the call to serve in the military and he did so as a U.S. Army Ranger, where he made it up to the rank of Major.
Entering Politics
He then returned home to Chicago and won the position of Mayor against an unknown Republican, succeding Richard Daley, Jr. He served as mayor ten years, unprecedented for Chicago politics. He then entered a race unexpectedly for congress against Henry Hyde, the popular incumbent who had served in many leadership posts in the House. Jameson beat Hyde by 0.1% of the vote. Jameson went on to win re-election against Hyde in 2006 by 1%, and he had no challenger in 2008.
Senator of Wabash Valley
In 2010 Jameson ran for Senator of the Wabash Valley and easily defeated his opponent Rep. Marsalis by 6% of the vote. Jameson currently serves as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations, Intelligence, and Defense committee and serves in leadership as Senate Majority Whip.
