Using a Kata is a simple action. It lasts until the effect expires. You can drop out as a free action. A character may only have one kata active at a given time.

Purchasing a Kata costs a number of experience points equal to its Ring Level.

Name: Striking as Air

Ring: Air 3

Schools: Any

Effect: When in the Defense stance your Armor TN is increased by your Air Ring.

Name: Striking as Earth

Ring: Earth 3

Schools: Any

Effect: When in the Full Defense Stance you gain reduction equal to your earth ring.

Name: Striking as Fire

Ring: Fire 3

Schools: Any

Effect: While in the Full Attack Stance you may add your Fire Ring to the total of one attack roll made per round.

Name: Striking as Void

Ring: Void 3

Schools: Any

Effect: When in the Center Stance your Armor TN is increased by your Void Ring

Name: Striking as Water

Ring: Water 4

Schools: Any

Effect: When in Attack stance you may move 5 additional feet as a Free Action

Name: Balance the Elements Style

Ring: Void 3

Schools: Mirumoto Bushi, Shiba Bushi

Effect: You may use your Void Ring in place of your reflexes for initiative

Name: Breath of Wind Style

Ring: Air 3

Schools: Kakita Bushi, Bayushi Bushi

Effect: Your initiative score increases by 2 during the reactions stage of each Combat Round. This Stacks, but ends if you drop out of the Kata.

Name: Disappearing World Style

Ring: Fire 4

Schools: Akodo Bushi, Kakita Bushi

Effect: Choose one opponent, once per turn against that opponent, you may use your agility trait instead of strength for damage.

Name: Hidden Blade Style

Ring: Air 4

Schools: Bayushi Bushi, Yoritomo Bushi

Effect: Your disarm attacks deal normal damage rather than 2k1. You may not increase your damage on these attacks via Raises.

Name: Indomitable Warrior Style

Ring: Earth 4

Schools: Daigotsu Bushi, Hida Bushi, Ichiro Bushi, Moto Bushi

Effect: Reduce your TN penalties from wound ranks by your Earth Ring

Name: Iron Forest Style

Ring: Air 4

Schools: Daidoji Iron Warrior, Heichi Bushi, Shiba Bushi

Effect: While using a spear or polearm you may use your Air Ring instead of agility for attack rolls.

Name: Iron in the Mountains Style

Ring: Earth 3

Schools: Daidoji Iron Warrior, Hida Bushi

Effect: You may use your Earth Ring in place of your Air Ring for the Defense stance

Name: Reckless Abandon Style

Ring: Fire 4

Schools: Daigotsu Bushi, Matsu Berserker, Usagi Bushi

Effect: You may add your Fire Ring to your Armor TN while in Full Attack Stance

Name: Strength in Arms Style

Ring: Water 4

Schools: Hida Bushi, Ichiro Bushi, Moto Bushi

Effect: Once Per turn, while wielding a heavy weapon, you may use your strength instead of your agility for attack rolls.

Name: Strength of Purity Style

Ring: Void 4

Schools: Akodo Bushi, Kakita Bushi, Matsu Berserker, Utaku Battle Maiden

Effect: Once per turn while rolling damage, you may add your Honor Rank instead of the normal strength.

Name: Spinning Blades Style

Ring: Fire 5

Schools: Mirumoto Bushi, Yoritomo Bushi

Effect: Once per turn while wielding a weapon in each hand, you may make the extra attack maneuver for 3 raises instead of five. The second attack comes from your off-hand weapon.

Name: Veiled Menace Style

Ring: Air 4

Schools: Bayushi Bushi, Hiruma Bushi, Tsuruchi Archer, Yoritomo Bushi

Effect: Once per turn, you may add your Stealth Skill rank to your Armor TN for a single attack.
