[edit] Assessment

On the first round of a duel on the initiative turn of the faster duelist, each participant assumes the Center Stance and makes an Iaijutsu(assessment)/awareness roll against a TN of 10 plus their opponent's Insight rank x5. Reveal one of these pieces of information about the opponent, plus one per raise.

The Opponent's Void

Reflexes.

Iaijutsu Skill

Any Emphases the Opponent has in Iaijutsu.

Current number of Void Points.

Current Wound Level.

If the assessment roll exceeds the total of their opponent's roll +10, they gain +1k1 on subsequent focus rolls. At this point, either participant may concede defeat.


[edit] Focus

During the Second round of the duel, enter the Focus stage on the initiative turn of the Faster duelist. Each duelist makes a contested Iaijutsu(focus)/Void Roll. If one duelist beats the other's roll by 5 or more, they strike first. He gains a free raise towards his strike for every additional 5 points they win by. If neither duelist wins, there is a simultaneous "Kharmic Strike"


[edit] Strike

The duelist who won the Focus round strikes first, making an Iaijutsu/Reflexes attack roll against his opponent's normal Armor TN. Any free raises gained from the Focus stage apply to this roll. If the second duelist is still alive, he may strike back. If a kharmic strike occurred, the cause of the duel should be considered settled by Fate as being inconsequential.

If the duel is to the death and both parties remain alive, the duel becomes a standard skirmish.
