• Peter begins tending to survivors in the Energy Dome. He is attacked by Dr. Octopus. Doc Ock questions Peter about his origin, asking if he is involved with law enforcement, S.H.I.E.L.D, or Justin Hammer. Doc Ock then subdues Peter and hits him with an electrical charge from one of his mechanical arms. This knocks Peter out of the Energy Dome and onto the surrounding docks.
• Peter regains consciousness from the electric shock to find that he is surrounded by a S.W.A.T. team. They hold Peter at gunpoint and begin to cuff him when agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show up to take him into their custody. While the S.W.A.T. and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents argue, Peter causes a distraction, webs the agents, and dives into the water. He then escapes a NYPD frogman team by leaving his costume shirt as a decoy.
• Justin Hammer makes a television broadcast where he apologizes for the attack, confirms that the project is safe, and indicates that Spider-Man might be to blame for this incident.
• Peter sees this broadcast and becomes upset that he is always the target of bad media representation. MJ helps bandage Peter’s wounds obtained from Dr. Octopus, which include a swollen eye and injuries to his shoulders. MJ offers to fix Peter’s costume. MJ leaves and as Peter sits in the basement contemplating his situation, Aunt May begins coming down the stairs while Peter is still wearing part of his costume.
Notes:
- Dr. Octopus shows that his mechanical arms are powerful enough to snap Spider-Man’s webs.
- The female S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is finally identified as agent Carter by one of her soldiers.
- Peter states that bad publicity like this does not happen to Iron Man or Captain America. MJ states that perhaps this is due to Peter’s costume. In response Peter mocks the costume worn by Daredevil, saying that he looks like a complete tool and no one blames nuclear sabotage on him.
