You may notice that some pages cannot be edited if you are a regular user. Those pages have been protected by an administrator. Now, you may ask yourself: "Why has a page been protected?" Well, many wikis have been attacked by vandals from time to time, so a page with important information on it is most likely protected. In that way, vandals cannot destroy vital information on an important page. The Main Page is a good example on a protected page.
