This is one of the hardest tricks to perform and works the best when playing with another human. I found this out when I wanted to be another character, but my friends already picked their charcter. So I pressed triangle button and the character selection appeared, all of a sudden, the loading screened appeared. Then when we were playing team deathmacth, I was not on their team, but on a grey team. And on the Status screen (Start Button selection), there was a trooper grey team slot. Reply on this page to tell me if you got this to work.
