Slope
From Thunderbird
The slope beckoned me tauntingly to conquer it. I began walking slowly, the grade giving way beneath my feet. I walked faster, trying to avoid the weeds and thorns being thrown at me. Before long it had me. Unable to turn around, I ran, faster and faster down the unending slope. The earth gave way as I struggled to keep my balance. As I ran the hill followed, an avalanche of rocks and debris struggling to overtake me. Holes appeared, trying to grab my legs and send me tumbling. I moved faster and faster, my legs barely keeping up with my body. My foot slipped, into one of the crevasses the hill conjured. My body wanted to continue, unable. Down I was pulled, against the surface, amongst the weeds and thistles. The avalanche of earth caught up, swallowing the foolish child who attempted to conquer its master.
