Ask to join their group and hope that they accept

You walk out of the bush and approach them. You ask them if you can join up with them for protection. They simply look at each other until one of them comes at you with a baseball bat. You pull out your chainsaw and cut the member in half. You find yourself forced to do the same to the others so you attack them... that is, until a shower of bullets passes through your body and your carcass slumps to the ground. Way to be a rat.
