Lion King

The Lion King is a tournament which has been held in Hastings since shortly after the birth of Christ.

Each year people put themselves forward to enter a small ring containing a pride of lions. The contestants then battle with the alpha male of the pride (or Lion King) to try and become the alpha male themselves. The first contestant to successfully mate with a female lion is declared the Lion King.

In 1066, the competition degenerated into a mating frenzy which has since become known by historians as the Battle of Hastings.
