Personality
Mia is somewhat of a hidden beauty. She hides herself behind her shy personality. On the surface, the is quiet and very self-conscious. She lets what others think of her rule her life most of the time. She is easily frightened by the things people say to her. She has always been the girl who tries to hide herself from others, and finds it difficult to be under the spotlight. And when she is she gets very nervous and tends to freeze up. It takes a lot of goading to get her to come out of her shell, but once you do it is entirely worth it to meet the real Mia.
The real Mia is a much stronger girl than most might expect. She still is insecure, but she's less inclined to be as shy when her first few walls of defense are gone. She still gets nervous, but it is plain to see that she is rational as well. A more obvious trait of Mia is her kindness. She cares deeply about the people around her and would never hurt any one she knows, or even those she doesn't. She is a selfless girl who just wants to help the people of the world. She doesn't need anything materialistic, just the ability to help others and brighten their world is enough for her.
Powers and Abilities
Sadly, Mia has no powers whatsoever. She's a normal, human girl who's never even come in contact with anything supernatural. As far as she's concerned, the world still revolves around the sun and most things have a logical, scientific explanation behind them.
But, disregarding all supernatural qualities she is lacking, she is skilled at things that normal humans might possibly find themselves skilled at if they took the time to try. For instance, she is a highly talented singer. She has already performed on stage as an opener for another band, and is working on her own album, her first ever. Not only is Mia a skilled singer but she is just as good with a guitar as she is with her voice. The combination of her voice and guitar is a powerful one. And to top it off, Mia is extremely good at pool, even if she is a little unaware of this. To her, pool is just something to calm her nerves. She never noticed before that she could get every ball into the pocket with just one shot per ball until Peyton and Haley mentioned it to her.
History
All of Mia's life she has been used to doing what others wanted her to. She is used to being used by those around her, if not completely ignored. She is invisible, and she is okay with that. She preferred to follow others and do what they wanted her to rather than stand out in the crowd and fail. She was happy in what could be referred to her 'safety zone' and that's how her life was.
Mia fell 'in love' with a boy, one who liked to take charge and demand respect from others. And Mia let him take charge of her life. She did whatever he wanted her to in order to feel safe and at ease with the world. She joined his band when he wanted her to, and she settled for playing the keyboard in the background and doing very little vocals. She never really questioned whether what she was doing was sane or not, or right or anything else. To her, it was life. She always thought that she was meant to be invisible, and she was just grateful that one person noticed her really, even if he didn't respect anything about her. It was a simple lie she told herself to help her sleep better at night.
The band Mia was in was good, there was no doubts about it. They were rough, but they had potential, and a girl named Peyton saw this. Peyton was making her own record label and she wanted Mia's boyfriend's, Jason's, band to be her first signed band. After much goading from Peyton, Jason reluctantly signed with her. He still respected no one, though, and he took advantage of Peyton's kindness, never doing anything she asked of him. This forced Peyton to request the help of her friend, Haley, who had been a professional singer, if only for a short time. Haley came in and spent five seconds with Jason before she noticed that he was a disrespectful man that would never make it with his attitude, and kicked him out of his band because she also knew he wasn't the one with real talent. When Jason left he took his band with him, but Haley stopped Mia. She told Mia that she had great talent and could really go far if she wanted to, and Mia decided to take Haley up on her offer, doing her own thing for once and leaving Jason.
Making an album is never an easy thing, and Mia knew it would require a lot of hard work and dedication, things she was willing to go through to become something more than what she was. She was early to every meeting Haley set up with her and she listened to everything Haley told her, taking it all to heart. But one instance of independence wasn't enough to change Mia entirely. Not when the woman funding the whole record company through her daughter's money, Victoria, stepped in, listened to Mia for five seconds, and decided that she wasn't talented in any way was a waste of time. Mia's fears of not being enough resurfaced and she ran away before anyone had a chance to stop her.
Mia stayed missing for nearly two days before she showed up at TRIC, a local club, and was found by Peyton. Peyton took Mia aside and began to question her about her dreams and hopes for the future. Mia let her insecurity take over and told Peyton that she wasn't the right one to start her label with, shutting down her own dreams to avoid failing. When Peyton asked why she wanted to be a musician Mia was unable to find the right words to describe what she really wanted, and that was when Peyton said that maybe Mia wasn't the right one. Mia could see that what she wanted was swiftly moving away, and she decided to take on her dreams one last time. She told Peyton what she wanted was to be the singer that when a girl or boy came home and felt like they had nothing left they listened to her song and they had hope again. She doesn't care about the money or the fame, just the people's souls she wants to reach. And Peyton knew that Mia was the right one for this job.
A few nights after this Mia was invited to TRIC to see one of her favorite bands perform. Upon her arrival Peyton told her that she would be opening for them and this would be Mia's first performance ever. Mia couldn't believe that she was going to perform and her nerves kicked in big time. She ran backstage and began to mentally prepare herself. And just when she had thought that she could handle things, Jason showed up, throwing her into even more chaos. Mia tried to focus, using pool as a source of stress relief, but it wasn't until Haley and Peyton told her this was her chance to be strong and to prove Jason wrong, that Mia really was good, that she was able to calm down again, especially when reminded the firs line of her song is 'I never feared the unexpected'. Still a wreck and highly anxious, Mia went on stage to perform for the first time ever in front of an audience of nearly a hundred. And despite Jason's rude remarks, she was amazing.
