Personality
Cross is a difficult man to pin down as far as personality goes. He seems like a horrible wenching, boozing, debt raising, smoker of a man. He�s blunt and often harsh in his choice of words, telling things as he sees them. He spares no one his sharp tongue, (save beautiful women most likely). He wouldn�t even pause as he tells you he thinks you�re slowing things down or to tell you to go away if you are doing such. A tactical minded man, he seems to always be two steps ahead of everyone else. Somewhat a lone wolf type, he does as he pleases when he pleases. Seeming to be playing a game of cat and mouse with his adversaries.
He�s out to do his job his way, and to this end he dodges his commanders he has to answer too. Deep down he does care about his fellow exorcists but he�s a driven man. Even more so than the student he�s trained. It�s unknown what in the past may have caused this jagged harshness that he has. It is very clear he values women very highly, and perhaps drinks to forget things. Either way, he doesn�t want anyone relying on him or attaching to him. It�s likely why he has simple trysts and raised his student Allen Walker to be as independent as the boy is.
Powers and Abilities
Cross Marian is an exorcist general who wields two anti Akuma weapons. One of them is his own, the other is controlled through magic (Rabi mentioned something about it being forbidden but that�s all we have to go on. Judgement: Cross is able to fire several bullets in rapid succession. These bullets will not cease until they hit their target. A symbol in form of a cross can be seen wherever these bullets hit (even on barriers). Grave of Maria- This parasitic-type Innocence doesn't belong to General Cross himself, but to Maria. It has been remarked by Allen that Cross is able to use magic to control Maria's corpse during a fight therefore allowing him to also use her Innocence. It takes the form of a large, flattened coffin wrapped with a long chain. When the chain is removed, the coffin opens to reveal a beautiful woman in a fancy dress with a large bow tied over her eyes. This 'woman' is in fact the corpse of Maria. With the defensive ability 'Magdala Curtain, Maria uses her song to create illusions that can conceal the presence of others. She also has another ability called "Carte Garde" which allows her( or Cross) to control the person's movements by affecting the brain somehow. Also able to �convert� Akuma though when they get too hungry, they blow up.
History
Much of Cross�s background is unknown, what we do know is he is a General of the Black Order who seems to have past connections to the Earl. At some point he had contact with the 14th and acquired Timcampi. Sometime later he found Allen in that fateful graveyard. For three years while tracking the Earl and doing his own thing he trained the boy. He sent Timcampi with him to go to headquarters before he knocked him out.
From what little we have to go on its known he traveled to China and meet Anita (and did things). He departed eight days before Allen and crew got there for Japan. In Japan he waited and somehow got on the Ark. He showed up in time to save Allen�s tail and to fight Tiki. It was really no contest as he beat the Noah. He spoke and fought with the Earl when he showed up, and gave Allen Timcampi to stop the down load. He brought the boy some time and was likely wanting to kick him for being slow. But the download was reversed.
