Xemnas is very stern when it comes to ordering people around. He also knows he's superior over everyone else and doesn't let anyone forget it. However mention Kingdom Hearts and he'll go quite while thinking about his loss of heart. Pretty much he's a lost puppy who needs a hug at times. But be careful cause this puppy can bite.

Xemnas has the ability to create weapons made out of light (yes they look like lightsabers)with which he duals wields. He can also drain the energy/life from someone using the powers of the darkness. He can heal himself and levitate himself when he feels like it.

Xemnas's somebody, Xehanort was the the first of the six apprentices who delved to deep into the darkness of the heart and lost their own hearts to darkness. When this happened the first nobodies were created. Xemnas took on th position of number 1 of the Organization XIII which is a group he made that consisted of the thirteen nobodies that had lost their hearts.
The Organization XIII's ultimate goal was to get back their hearts by whatever means possible, even if it meant covering the worlds in darkness. Xemnas had started this while attempting to repair Kingdom Hearts which eh believed would give him a heart if it were finished. He obsessed over it and ended up using Sora as a tool in order to gain the amount of hearts to finish it. Xemnas continued to throw heartless at Sora in hopes that he'd keep killing them and releasing their hearts. This would have worked if Saix hadn't told Sora that he was being used. However Sora had no choice but to continue destroying the heartless if nothing else to protect his friends.
Thanks to Axel Sora managed to make it to the world that never was and destroyed the remaining Org. members and ended up fighting Xemnas. During the battle Xemnas absorbed Kingdom Hearts for its power. However he was not able to defeat both Riku and Sora and was destroyed.
