Impulsive, optimistic, a bit rebellious, and energetic. Axl acts like a typical teenager. He never allows things to keep him down and if they do it doesn�t last long as he finds something to do or just makes himself get over it and be cheerful again. He�s a bit of a rookie in his actions and composure compared to other Hunters like X and Zero, but he makes up for it in his determination and quick learning.
This doesn�t mean his outlook won�t cause a bit of boredom breaking amidst the other Hunters as he is in need to be active and not above alleviating his boredom in quips, verbal barbs, pranks, and general tomfoolery of a teenager; even if it does cause him to hide from the wrath of his superiors that were in the crossfire. Whether intentionally or not.
[edit] Powers and Abilities
Though he is built more for speed and agility he shares the same trait of reploids in inhuman strength and ability to withstand extremes that would kill a human. As well as �sticking� to walls before slowly sliding down or �Jumping� up them. Outside of solid ice (probably due to the moisture screwing with the ability� and spikes managing to get past the heavy outer armor to deal damage. Damage which he takes more so as his armor is of a lighter material then most fighting reploids due to the advantage in speed this gives him. He also has the ability to hover, glide vertically and horizontally for a short time and distance. Even while shooting.
He is a long range combatant using two Blaster Pistols. What makes him unique and able to keep up with the likes of the top two Maverick Hunters is his odd ability to steal the DNA of enemy reploids with his Copy Shot ability. Thus allowing him to shape shift, if the reploid in question was the same size as Axl, into the reploid with all their abilities, or just steal their abilities if smaller or larger then him in the same manner that Zero and X do. He is also in possession of a stealth mode that for a short time he becomes invisible to the sensors of reploids and thus able to sneak past them.

At the start of the seventh major conflict against Sigma and the Maverick Virus X steps down as an active combat to find a more peaceful way to end the conflicts, thus causing a vacuum in power against the Mavericks. Resulting in various independent groups outside of the Hunters to form and act like vigilantes in keeping Maverick crime down. One group known as Red Alert who also took on various unsavory assassination jobs Hunters would never actually do. This group is the one that Axl leaves after finally becoming tired of the �murders� being committed by the group. Of course leaving is not as easy as it sounds and thus Axl flees from the wrath of the leader of the group and the various reploids sent out to bring him back. He is caught/rescued by Zero after being chased by a monstrously huge reploid and asks for asylum and to join the Hunters.
This causing Red the leader of Red Alert to put up a challenge to the Hunters that the group to destroy the most of the Mavericks that Red had set free would be the ones to get Axl. This resulting in X, Zero, and Axl to find out that Sigma, leader of the Mavericks and main carrier of the virus, had infiltrated Red Alert and thus forcing them to bring about not only the death of Sigma but of Red. And any answers of just why Axl was important and why he could copy others when no other reploid could.
When the eight phase of the war against the Mavericks begin it is found out through a reploid named Lumine that Axl is a prototype for a next-generation reploid. These next-generation reploids all have the ability to copy other reploids, as well as a chip that prevents them from going Maverick. These next-generation reploids are pawns in two different plots, however: the copy chip contains a copy of the Sigma virus which removes all safeguards and gives them the freedom to go Maverick at will. Sigma wants to destroy the old world and start a new age with his "children" and Lumine, leader of the next-generation reploids and on whom all of the next-generation reploids are based on, plans to use them to destroy all the humans and old-model reploids so he can repopulate the Earth with next-generation reploids.
This causing the new version reploids to brand Axl as a traitor and to seek to destroy him as well for siding with the older models and humans and throwing him even deeper into the three sided battle. A battle that becomes two sided as Lumine defeats Sigma and destroys him for good while expounding about the evolution that must be taken for the world to go on. Despite the marked advancements Lumine has over Zero, X, and Axl he is defeated by them in the end, though he manages to, in his death throws, attack Axl and shatter the crystal on his helmet and causing him to barely hang on to consciousness as an odd purple crystal is embedded in the shattered gem.
