Personality
Niki is a loving and determined induvidual. Everything she does, she does for the good of her son, Micah. She loves him more than the world itself, and would never be able to live with herself if anything happened to him. She's willing to rot in jail for the rest of her life, if that's what it taskes to protect her son.
More often than not, Niki is too trusting. She tells people about her split personality whenever Jessica does anything wrong, and allows her husband to stay the night even though she believes him to be a murderer.
Jessica is Niki's alter-ego. Whenever Niki is incapable of fixing a problem, Jessica comes out and fixes it for her. She is almost the opposite of Niki. Although she lives and breathes soley for Micah, her son is the only one she loves. Jessica trusts no one, and expresses this violently. She has no problem with murder, theft, or even alligning with mobsters in order to keep Micah and Niki safe.

She's got super-human strength, but the flux-gate's probably going to snag it.
History
Niki Sanders, and her twin sister Jessica, grew up with an abusive alcoholic for a father. He got angry often, and Jessica would always take the beatings in Niki's place. When the girls were eleven, their father choked Jessica to death and bailed on Niki and his wife. He took his piles of wealth with him, leaving Niki with nothing. She grew up supressing the memories of Jessica's death, until she actually forgot how it happened. After the loss of her sister and father, Niki started having problems, and grew up addicted to alcohol and gambling.
When she was 23, she married a contruction worker named D.L., and gave birth to her son, Micah. For the good of her family, she worked hard to get over her problems. Years later, with the help of her best friend Tina and Alcoholics Anonymous, she finally did. To celebrate being one year sober, she went to an AA meeting, where she met her father for the first time in twenty years. He wanted to make amends for not being there for her, and asked to meet her family. He gave Niki's genius son Micah a laptop, which the ten year old immedietely took apart and put back together again. He lost his temper, and Niki kicked him out. For the first time, Jessica's personality took over. She went to her father's hotel room and beat him, telling him to stay away from her family.
Soon after, Jessica framed D.L. for the murder of his gang, and the theft of two million dollars, getting the unfit father out of Micah's life and into jail. Niki had no memory of what Jessica had done, and believed her husband to be a murderer. Now without D.L., Niki had to find a way to pay the bills and take care of her son at the same time, and became an internet stripper in her garage. However, this was not enough, as the public schools didn't know what to do with Micah. The boy was a genius, so she had him put in private school. To pay for it, she borrowed thirty thousand dollars from a mobster named Linderman. Stripping couldn't provide enough money to pay off the loan, and Linderman sent two men to come collect money from her.
The two mobsters told Niki she could strip to get rid of some debt, and hit her when she refused. Then Jessica took over and literally tore the men apart. When Niki's personality took over again, she had no idea how this happened. She got in the car immedietely to pick up Micah, pack their things and leave. When she got in the car, she blacked out. As she woke up again, she realized it was several hours later and she was wearing a completely different outfit. She picked up Micah from the babysitter's house and went back home.
The two men she had killed were gone. In their place, there was a key to a new car, and in the trunk of the car were the bodies and a map telling her where to bury them, left by Jessica. She does as she is told, and Linderman soon contacts her with a way to relieve all of her debt. She is told to seduce a congressional cantidate from New York named Nathan Petrelli in Linderman's hotel/casino. Niki refuses, but Jessica overpowers her once again and takes the opportunity. Niki, once again, has no recollection of what happened or where she was. One of Linderman's men shows her the security tape of her night with Nathan, and she denies that it was her. Her debt is erased anyways, and she is free to return home to Micah.
Niki comes home, and her husband is waiting for her. He escaped from prison and is looking for a way to clear his name. She has a panic attack in her bedroom and looks in the mirror. When she does, she sees Jessica right next to her. Jessica tells her that she was the one who framed DL, and that Niki needed to take the two million stolen dollars and run with Micah, or Jessica would do it herself. Niki retrieves the money from its hiding spot, but is caught by DL. Jessica learns that DL has the ability to phase through solid objects, which he uses to temporarily stop her heart and run away with Micah.
