Xanatos is charming, conniving, vengeful, and egotistical. He has far too much pride for his own good but he is clever and manipulative as well, possessing a level od charisma that makes him hard to immediately dislike, or mistrust.

Incrediably agile and strong he is a master at dueling and an expert at molding the darkside of the Force to his will. He relies heavily on its manipulation to fuel his own hate and anger for the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his oaf of an apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi. He is aggressive and determined, he will never let someting go until he succeeds.

Xanatos was born on the pleante of Telos, to its powerful and wealthy leader, Crion. He was taken from his home planet when he was very young by the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who saw inthe boy great potential for a Jedi Knight. At the Temple he gained a reputation for being the best duelist with his lightsaber, and when he was old enough Qui-Gon took him as his Padawan and Xanatos learned the ways of the Force benath the tutalage of the adept Knight. But Yoda looked upon Xanatos with a degree of uncertainty, unsure of his future due to the boys penchance for trickery and his aggressiveness.

He passed the Jedi trials with flying colors but due to the councils distrust Xanatos was sent on one more mission with his Master to the planet of Telos, his old home. It was there that the confrontation occured between Xanatos and Qui-Gon with Crion, Xanatos' father, who was trying to start a civil war after power had corrupted him. Crion tried to bring Xanatos to his side and Xanatos chose the darkside upon the death of his father, killed by Qui-Gon Jinn. Xanatos chose power and wealth over the Jedi Order. Xanatos, after his father lay dead, picked up his broken ring, heated by Qui-Gon's saber, and pressed it to his right cheek, scarring the flesh and telling Qui-Gon that it served as a reminder for the hate Xanatos held for his ex-Master. Not much is heard of Xanatos ater that until Qui-Gon and his new apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi run across the corrupt mining organization, Offworld, which is being led by Xanatos. Xanatos promises he will kil Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, working against them in the following events of Obi-Wan's apprenticeship. He tries to kill Yoda and bring the Temple down by corrupting the young Jedi trainer Bruck Chun, who later dies by the actions of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Xanatos' final stand occurs on Telos, where he is fighting Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan near the acid pools of the planet. Seeing he cannot win Xanatos tells Qui-Gon that "I am your biggest failure. Live with that. And live with this," and dives into the acid pool. It is here where the Flux gate takes effect, pulling the dark Jedi to the ruined city of Manhatten and all the horrors that fill it.
