Mission
The mission of the SRA Army is to protect the people, territory of the Socialist Republic of Australia, the Communist Party of Australia, and the "Australian revolution".
History
The Socialist Republic of Australia Army was proclaimed on the same day as the new Constitution. It was essentially Australia's pre-revolutionary Army with the addition of a political corps. It retained much of the traditions and trappings of the older Australian Military Forces. Two and a half years, the new SRAA found itself at war with Germany. Australia declared war on Germany on 22 June 1941, and began to organise the Australian Popular Force. The APF was sent to Siberia initially for training. Five Divisions were raised, and by October 1941 they had been trained, acclimatised, and had moved across Russia. That month, they took part in the successful counter attack against the Germans near Moscow. The APF took a strong part throughout the war, and conscripted reinforcements streamed into Russia to replace losses. The APF went with the Red Army all the way to Berlin.
Australia and Russia rarely diverged on political matters during the war. It was only in respect of Japan that they varied. Anti-Communists have charged that the Soviets and Japanese had an arrangement that each would leave the other alone, and that "non-aggression" meant the Russians wouldn't go to war with Japan to protect Australia. Feeling the threat of Japanese invasion, President Miles declared war on Japan in early 1942. He had already said quietly that any Japanese move south of Singapore would mean war, and he was as good as his word. Australian troops fought alongside British, American, New Zealand, and Dutch forces in Papua New Guinea, Borneo, Malaya, and the Dutch East Indies.
During the war, known in Australia as the "1941-45 War", or the "Revolutionary Defence War" the Army became increasingly Sovietised. British-style uniforms and insignia were dropped in favour of a more Soviet look. Only the Slouch Hat remained, albeit bearing the Red Star.
After the war, Australian ground forces were often active. A division of Australian troops took part in the Korean War, and another in the Vietnam War. Australians fought alongside Cuban forces in Angola, and Australia's special forces fought in the Nicaraguan Civil War. Australian troops also served in the Vietnamese occupation of Cambodia.

The SRA Army's regular forces are organised into several brigades which form part of regional divisions. Divisional formations are limited to headquarters, some support services, and ballistic missile detachments.

Reserve Forces
The SRA Army's reserve forces are formed into provincial divisions. Apart from New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia, these 'divisions' consist of a single brigade.

Corps
Corps act as parents for the various regiments, and battalions in the Australian Army, as well as the 'home' for personnel. For example, a BREM-1 Armoured Recovery Vehicle will form part of an armoured unit under the Australian Armoured Corps, but the crew will be drawn from the Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
Corps are also responsible for training and developing doctrine for relevant units, the Australian Infantrry Corp for example runs Infantry Training Courses.
The Australian Political Corps is responsible for political education, and political surveillance of SRA Army units. Their political officers are attached to every battalion-level unit in the Army, and head the Political Cell. They maintain the Communist Party of Australia's control over the Army.
