You retrieve your gear from your footlocker, including your sword and blaster rifle, and follow Trask out into the corridor. It isn't long before you encounter the battle; Republic marines firing at silver-clad Sith troopers. Trask yells, "For the Republic!" and charges into the fray with his rifle. You charge your blaster and follow on, blasting one of the troopers' chrome chest plates apart while Trask takes down a second with a volley of red lasers. Running on, you encounter more resistance, and even happen upon a Jedi Knight locked in combat with a Dark Jedi, although both are consumed by an explosion before you can help.
Making it to the bridge, you discover Bastila is gone. "They must have retreated to the escape pods," Trask surmises. "We better head that way too."
However, in the next chamber, Trask discovers another Dark Jedi, bald-pated and wielding a blood-red lightsaber. "I'll try to hold him off," the soldier says, "you get to the escape pods. Go!" He charges the Sith warrior, and the blast door locks firmly behind him to the sound of explosions, blaster fire and the deathly hum of the lightsaber.
Left with no other choice you run on into the Endar Spire's Starboard Section, and discover Captain Carth Onasi in the escape pod bay. "You made it just in time!" the goatee-wearing pilot says by way of greeting. "There's only one active escape pod left. Come on, we can hide out on the planet below."
You are unsure whether to trust the newcomer, but as Carth goes on to point out, you two are the sole remaining crew members aboard the ship, so you have little choice but to join him in the cramped pod. "There'll be time for questions later," Carth promises, and the pod bay door slams shut behind you.
