Lieutenant Danlé reports that the cruiser will shortly be entering hyperspace, bound for the Core. Intending on executing the decoy switch as soon as necessary, Padmé wishes Cordé good luck in her stead, and dresses in her borrowed flight suit. She joins Captain Typho, Jok and Porro Dolphe, all similarly dressed, and together they make for the N-1 starfighters slung beneath the cruiser's broad, chromium wings.
Entering the sleek starfighter via its docking tube, Padmé settles into the pilot's seat and detaches from the diplomatic barge. Padmé forms up with the rest of the squadron as the convoy heads for the edge of the Chommell system, and flicks the comm switch. "Gold Three checking in."
"Gold Leader reporting in." That is Typho, flying ahead of the formation. Dolpe and Jok chime in, the latter adding: "Gold Three's starboard pulse engine is listing. Recommend she has someone give her intakes a good seeing-to."
Padmé smiles, correcting her vessel as Typho requests her to shape up, and the four N-1s follow the cruiser into the swirling tunnel of hyperspace. She's well aware of Jok's meaning; she met the flyboy during a flying lesson on Naboo three days ago, and is under no illusions about exactly which "intakes" he's referring to. The incognito senator also knows that Jok himself would like to carry out the inspection personally....
