Rules/Guides
From Test234
Triton City is a play-by-post, forum based RPG which encourages detailed, descriptive, and well thought out posts; all of this dealing with diverse socio-political themes in a friendly environment.
In order to achieve a quality site enjoyable for the members, certain rules have been created for the running of the board. These rules are to be read before creating your first character and after each time the rules are updated. They are to be followed at all times. If clarification is needed or discussion about them sought, feel free to contact an Administrator.

[edit] Registering
Please register with a first and last name. Only exceptions are villains who are so notorious they go by another name. If this applies, please explain in your character history. If you have forgotten a last name, please re-register or PM an Administrator.
[edit] Character Development
When developing a character, please create one who is dynamic. By this I mean, they have depth, emotions, fears, a background typical of someone in their current position. I do not want any “Mary Sue's” or Gary Stu's.” That is to say, I do not want any perfect characters. Everyone has problems yet not everyone was raped, parents murdered, and have a severed limb.
[edit] Posting
When posting, it is imperative to be descriptive. Offer details: outfits, weather, thoughts, facial expressions, hand gestures; there is more going on than a few simple words. I would rather have detailed paragraphs posted creating a two page thread than one liners creating a seven page thread. I do understand that sometimes things get… long and hard to post, and the muse is away. However, sometimes that is an indication to end the topic and continue the plot somewhere else or start new plots with other people.
When posting make sure that you control your character and your character alone. “Godmodding,” that is controlling someone else’s character as if they are your own or as if you are “God,” is not acceptable. The Administrators may make use of this in rare occasions to move a thread along. The creation and use of NPC’s (non player characters) for a thread is perfectly acceptable. If you are creating a character which is major to the plot although not major enough to be their own character, consider a “side-character.”
[edit] Activity
Member activity is essential in order to move the plot of the site forward. It is my hope that the site is checked daily, to stay on top of threads and the developing plot, and that posts are bi-weekly if not more. The plot needs to continue to move forward and we have many members who post 10, 20, 30 times a day. Take into account the amount of time you will have to role play when creating a character. If you are not going to be too active, it is best that you create a character who does not have a major role in the plot rather, a more subtle one or supporting character.
[edit] Site Content
The content on this site is comparable to that of movies rated PG13 and R. Drugs, sex, and alcohol are perfectly acceptable. However, please do not be explicit and put a warning in the topic description of anything that is questionable.
[edit] Major Plot Changes
Pregnancies, deaths, and anything in between are all a part of life. If however, any of these happen, please make sure all parties involved are aware and that an Administrator is notified prior. Also, if a character becomes pregnant, describe the process, go through the sickness, pains, etc, even if it is only for a week or two. Also, notification is required for topics that have the potential to affect the whole board (from a simple location, to a zip code, to Triton City, California, the Nation, the World, etc.)
[edit] Personal Problems
As with all people, personal problems do arise from time to time. It is my sincere hope that nothing escalates to this however, if something should then the two parties involved should try to work it out themselves. If there is any difficulty, contact an Administrator and we can help the two parties come to a solution.
[edit] Enforcement
In order to make sure that rules are followed, they need to be enforced. Generally speaking, an Administrator will give an offender a warning, referring them to the rule they have broken and a possible way to remedy and avoid the problem in the future. If it continues however, suspension and other forms of discipline will be looked into, especially if the intention of the action was malicious.
When in doubt, contact an Administrator. We are here to maintain a safe, friendly community. And I think that in time you will see that the Administering Team and myself are really friendly people. I am almost always available to talk to on AIM about questions and concerns, and I want to make sure that you have your voice heard.
