Sean Donahue (born May 21, 1988 in Boston, MA, United States) is an American soccer player, playing predominantly as an attacking midfielder. He plays for Tekken City in the FA Barclays Premiership. He recently joined F.C. Porto on a season-long loan deal after a proposed move to Edgware United fell through.
[edit] Early Career
[edit] New England Revolution
Donahue was picked by New England Revolution as a draft pick in 2005. In two seasons he was able to play 45 games in the MLS scoring 14 goals. In July 2006, He was part of the MLS All-Stars team that played and beat Chelsea 1-0 in a friendly game. He was the very player who made an assist to Dwayne De Rosario, who scored the goal.
[edit] Tekken City
On January 21, 2007, it was announced that Donahue was to join Tekken City from the Revolution. However, he was not eligable to play because his visa had not come through before the end of the month, so he had to stay at the Revolution until the end of the 2006-2007 season to play for the club. On 22 May, 2007 it had been confirmed that Donahue had claimed his visa and was then able to join Tekken City in a feeder-deal which would send players, Bartlomiej Konieczny, Matthew Cressey and Coley Dominiak to the Revolution on MLS off-season loan deals. A fee of $3.8m would be paid for the midfielder.
Sean may not be Tekken City's first choice player over the coming seasons, but both Ronald Koeman, and New England Revolution manager, Steve Nicol believe that he is a player for the forthcoming future.
[edit] FC Porto
During the 2009-2010 season, Donahue was loaned out for a year to FC Porto. The American however couldn't cement a place in Jesualdo Ferreira's side and only played 13 games in the Portuguese league, scoring only 2 goals. One he scored against SC Braga, and the other goal against Rio Ave. The lack of starts for Porto dented his chances on making the United States squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. On July 18, 2010, Donahue returned to Tekken City from his loan spell, but there is talk that he will move on permanently. Fulham are interested in signing the winger on a season-long loan.
