James Jacobs

From Tekken City

James Jacobs (born August 13, 1985) is an English football player who is currently playing as forward for Spanish side Valencia C.F. in La Liga. Jacobs played for Tekken City between the years of 2004 and 2006. He scored 31 goals for the club in 68 appearances. His performances were noticed by England during that time, unfortunately he sustained a cruciate knee injury which kept him out of action for 4 months. By the time he had returned to injury, chances of playing for England had been dashed because other players had had been picked ahead of him to impress at international level. Jacobs had won 15 caps for England and scored 3 goals.

[edit] Career

[edit] Sheffield Wednesday

James was offered a work experience trial at Sheffield Wednesday at 16 years of age, after being rejected by Chelsea. He played in their youth academy for 2 years. Unfortunately he did not impress many at the academy and the club terminated his contract with immediate effect.

[edit] Tekken City

In January 2004, with astounding amazement, James was signed up by Tekken City on a free transfer, and at their academic facilities, he played a whole lot better as a player. He was then put on the subs bench in a Premiership match with Leicster City. He came off from the bench to score on his debut.

After the game, James continued to impress then-manager, Sid Gribbon and carried on starting from the bench until the following season, where at times he would be selected in Tekken City's starting XI. In the 2004-2005 donestic season, he scored his first hat-trick against Bolton Wanderers in a 5-1 victory.

In the same season, in the Champions League, he scored a notible goal against Inter Milan in a 4-2 win during the quarter fonals of the competition.

Unfortunately during the season, he sustained the knee ligament injury and it kept him out until at least the beginning of the following season. When he returned to full fitness, it was an even bigger uphill task to fight his way back into the first team. With Tekken having signed players such as David Trezeguet from Juventus.

[edit] Tottenham Hotspur

In the summer of 2006, Jacobs agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £11 million, and once again, he immediately impressed manager, Martin Jol, scoring 18 goals in 34 appearances during the 2006-2007 season. However, at the beginning of the 2007-2008 in pre-season, Jacobs and Jol got into a huge arguement over contract demands, with Jacobs saying that he wanted an extra payrise following his heroic displays for Tottenham, but Jol had already agreed a fixed wage with Daniel Levy for the striker. This almost cost Jol is job, but immediately decided to release Jacobs on a free transfer.

[edit] Valencia C.F.

On October 4, 2007 Jacobs moved away from the Premiership to join La Liga and with Valencia C.F. Manager, Quique Sánchez Flores aquired him on a free transfer after his mutual release from Tottenham. He was offered the numner 26 shirt at the club, but is yet to make a start.

[edit] Personal Life

Jacobs dated Girls Aloud member, Nicola Roberts during his time at both Tekken City and Tottenham, but the two broke up because it would cost Nicola her place in the pop group if the pair had moved to Valencia. Jacobs is currently single.
