"I'll go see if the Captain's sober enough to talk with you."

"No, don't bother him, Quentin," said Cameron calmly. "I'm having a lovely time right where I am. I'd hate to wake him just so we can have a little chat."

Quentin calmly responded, "Oh, no -- he left specific instructions for me to check in on him when you regained consciousness. After all, I know he's dying to talk to you about the last known location of The Crimson Cutlass."

Cameron cursed under his breath, now realizing the reason for his current predicament. He heard the soft tap of Quentin's boots as he walked away. He twisted his head around to see how he was secured to the figurehead. He slowly rolled his right shoulder, trying to loosen a few of his bounds. As splinters ground into the middle of his back, he gasped aloud with the pain. He tucked his chin to his chest and noticed they'd left the tatters of his coat belted on. He smiled knowingly.

- Hidden inside the buckle was a tiny dagger, which he could use to cut away his bonds. If he could reach it. If he could find a way to keep from plumetting into the ocean.

- Hidden inside the buckle was a small fortune in diamonds, which he could use to bribe a deckhand. If he could hold out long enough. If the Captain stayed unconscious. If he had enough time.

This article needs to be edited to conform to Interactive Fiction-style prose. It may need one or more of the following:

  • To be written in the second person, with the reader as protagonist;
  • To follow the POV of only the protagonist (e.g. only narrate the reader's thoughts and observations, as the reader can't know what other characters are thinking, unless he/she is telepathic);
  • To only include choices in the decision paths (e.g. a decision path should be a choice between two or more decisions, not two or more realities - a decision path shouldn't say A: You have $50 in your wallet or B: You have $400 in your wallet. Such a choice provides alternate realities, not alternate decisions.
