David Swanson

"Frozen" David Swanson is a musician, photographer, and artist. He is best known for fronting the Michigan bass-drum-Moog trio Whirlwind Heat.
Swanson documented and photographed The White Stripes during the recording process of Icky Thump as well as its subsequent tour. He is an established photographer, and his many subjects have included The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, The Dead Weather, The New York Yankees, Iggy Pop, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Matthew Gray Gubler, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, among many others. Swanson studied black-and-white photography in Grand Rapids, and has been an apprentice to famed fashion photographer Terry Richardson for the last nine years. He was the editor and layout designer of Terry Richardson's 2011 book LADY GAGA x TERRY RICHARDSON.
Swanson has been the vocalist and Moogist for Whirlwind Heat since its formation in 1996.
