Time Orb

Three mysterious time orbs began appearing in 1893 in the American West. Able to confer great power on some of their users (and destroy or imprison others), these artifacts formed the focus of John Bly's criminal activities and those of Brisco County, Jr. in trying to apprehend him and his gang.

The orbs seem possessed of a moral imperative as well as being powerful. Created in the far future and sent to the past, their purpose and abilities were never understood completely; though part of their purpose seemed to ensure the survival of Brisco County, Jr. and his ability to defeat John Bly, himself a criminal from the future.

Physically, the orbs are gold-colored spheres, heavy and about 18 inches in diameter, studded with rounded bumps that can sometimes be extracted as orb rods. These rods are filled with a thick blue fluid.

Powers

• Four chinese laborers were able to use super-strength conferred by an orb rod to break their shackles and escape from their captivity.
• An orb rod disintegrated one of the robber barons employing Brisco County, Jr., who had planned to use it for nefarious purposes.
• An orb healed and protect Big Smith after falling from a great height into a river.
• An orb healed Brisco County, Jr. after he had been shot (probably fatally).
• An orb allowed Brisco County, Jr. to travel back in time to speak with himself, retrieve it, and revive Lord Bowler after he had been killed by John Bly.
• An orb rod imprisoned John Bly after being shot with a bullet specially prepared by Li Pao.
• John Bly was able to use the orbs to create portals in time.
