Bernard is a dwarven priest of Moradin living in Kingsport. He is a nephew of Hilgard the wagonwright and joined his uncle's quest for Galenvale, hoping to see the ancient city as well as some dwarven cities, temples, and similar architecture. However, when the party arrived in Danloc, Bernard and Hilgard were both falsely imprisoned due to the city's mistrust of dwarves. The authorities demanded that their friends find the cause of the interruption of the flow of the Danloc River if they wanted to see them released.
The two dwarves languished in prison for several days while the other adventurers sought out Galenvale.
