Halan was an alchemist working with Geolane to forge a magic coin. (See the Coin quest.) He was somewhat absent-minded, yet he dealt in dark magic in making the coin, never a good combination. He was slain when servants of "the Demon Queen" (probably Daresh) raided his tower during the final phase of forging the enchanted coin.
Halan's home and lab are located in a tower in the Council Hall District (Zoa) in Zoa. It has been under observation by the Sentinels of the True Way, though they have probably gone away now that Halan is dead and his project is complete.
Geolane has said that Halan will be restored to life at one of the virtuous temples of Zoa. Whether this undertaking will be successful, and in what state Halan might return, have yet to be discovered.
